Antique French Music Box with Swiss movement -8 Melodies (Airs) -1840 Marque de Fabrique No. 2 H09H – Made in France 1800’s. Handwritten Programme card is adorned with an orchestra of angels -Lists 8 Melodies or’Airs’ : Artists Life “Waltz” by Strauss – Mikado The Flowers that Bloom by Gilbert – The Campbells are Coming by Jacobts – Bocaccio March by Suppi – Secret Love by Resch – Ever of Thee – America – Coming through the Eye (I may have misread some of these words). Exterior: Floral Marquetry design on lid of a Songbird perched on flowering branches -Dark stained wood footed box -Hinged overhanging lid – keyhole (no key). Interior: Hinged Glass cover over the Swiss movement -has 5.5 Brass Cylinder- Brass hand crank handle -2 brass mechanical levers Change/Repeat & Stop/Play. Very Good Antique Condition : We are not music box experts -I got it to work by pulling down the’Play’ lever -I had to manually lift an interior piece to stop it -Could use a cleaning and may need some adjustments. Only a few nicks, scratches & gouges to the box -Age related crazing of finish including the marquetry on the lid. Please review photos & descriptions with care & ask any questions before purchasing.
