Absolutel beautiful, this antique Jacot’s music box is sure to please any lover of finely made boxes and music boxes especially. It features stunning, many-colored marquetry on the top and the front of the box, and the wood looks good. The interior seems lacquered or ebonized, showing minimal signs of wear, nicely intact. Photos show you the cosmetic condition of this piece quite accurately. No stressed wood, no cracks, no serious chipping on the interior anywhere. There are a few minor marks on the exterior, but nothing serious–photos really show you well what to expect. The wood has a rich color to it. The top opens and shuts nicely. The glass covering the actual cylinder looks nice with no scratches or damage, still nice and clear and well-placed. The only thing to point out is it is a little difficult to open should you need to because the little leather/cloth strap to lift it with has worn down to a nub over time. On the music box end, it sounds glorious and plays 8 tunes, as shown on the cute little card on the inside of the box, which I have pictured above. The start and stop function works well. The crank on the side to produce music works fine, and the teeth of the music box all seem in beautiful shape, so no issues with sound. The box measures 14 1/2″ wide x 7 3/8″ deep x 5 3/16 tall.
