Incredible 19th Century Swiss made music box by Stella c. 1897, Serial #21982; plays 9.5 discs. Professionally serviced and repaired in 1995 per included receipt, and played until their mother moved in 1998 according to the family along with the date on the newspaper surrounding the discs. We did not attempt to oil it, or play it. All teeth appear present. Mahogany box is in great condition with a corner of the lid molding a bit loose and a spattering of hammered round dings to the top of the lid. Appears to have been made by T&G Whitehead of Newark NJ. All (27) 9.5 discs are in varying condition. Some of the titles include: My Old Kentucky Home, Kerry Mills’ Whistling Rufus, Always! Ma Tiger Lily, The Mosquito Parade and I don’t know why I love you; but.. The mahogany box measures 10.25″ tall x 18.5″ wide x 17 deep. The following repairs are noted on the included receipt; re-shaped damaged gear, correct binding of gear train, make new shoulder screw, replace 3 missing screws, repair winding ratchet, remove lead corrosion from tooth weights, straighten bent dampers, clean and lube mechanism, repair 26 bent tune disks. Acquired from a Louisville KY estate.
