Antique “Marque De Fabrique” Swiss music box in wood case – 10 Songs. This box is in excellent mechanical working condition. The cylinder pins are in excellent shape – none appear to be missing. The comb has all of its original teeth and tips, all free of rust. The box still has its original tune sheet in excellent condition. The change/repeat control works as it should. The case is in fair condition inside and out. Inlay work is somewhat distressed some missing. The glass lid is original and fits into place perfectly. The unit was converted to a “Penny Play” machine. This was accomplished by cutting a hole in the. Bottom and screwing on a little trap door. The original Start/Stop control plate was removed and. Replaced with a “trip mechanism”. The coin was placed in the slotted brass receiver (front left corner). Coin would then roll down the slide and drop on the trip mechanism. Coins would accumulate in box at the drop hole. Machine can be started manually by lifting glass and pushing trip mechanism. In my opinion, this is a great feature. Your grandchildren will be amazed to drop in a coin and listen. They don’t even have to contact iTunes. One of the 10 songs (airs) is the classic “Rock A Bye Baby”. Just set the control to repeat and your child. Can go to sleep listening to an 18th century lullaby. This is a great music box, we have owned for over 35 years.
