RARE OAK DESK REGINAPHONE. COMBINATION MUSIC BOX & PHONOGRAPH. Regina, a New Jersey based subsidiary of the German Polyphon music box company, was a pioneer in the manufacture of music boxes, and as phonographs came into rapid popularity after the turn of the century, they designed and built these combination “hybrid” instruments that did not forsake one standard over another. This is a very, very rare model #161, perhaps the only one ever made in oak. It is in fabulous condition, having been lovingly cared for over the past 110 or so years. Serial #85048 is stamped on the music box bedplate. Measures 46″ wide, 27″ deep and 32 high (with the top closed). It houses a double-comb Regina music box, in perfect condition, and playing size 20.75 disks. By inserting the Columbia tone arm attachments, this instantly converts to an outside-horn phonograph. The oak spear-tip wood horn provides the perfect compliment to the quarter-sawn grain oak desk.
