Very old German 1890s music box Christmas tree stand in working condition. There is 2 tunes on the pinned Cylinder. Silent Night and Crown Him Lord of All. It shifts and plays both tunes nicely. It is a top key wind with its old key. The tree holder is ornate cast iron. The base housing is nickel plated brass. There are some small dents and tarnish due to the age of this piece it is truly a vintage musical tree holder. In the 1890s in germany they made their own trees using Goose Feathers and these tree musical boxes. The Cast iron holder for the tree base is 2 1/4 inch opening. The inside mechanism is unmarked. The key is marked VBA for the maker.. I oiled the mechanism and it all works fine. You can turn on and off the music with a lever on the side. The tree holder rotates when it is on. Can you imagine the wonderful Victorian site of the Christmas tree rotating with a music box tune playing. The base measures approximately 14 1/2 in diameter. The key winds the square on top of the round box the second hole was for a on off tune selector but later repairman made it so it just plays one tune then the other tune automatically until the music box runs down.
