Vintage Reuge Music Box 5 Interchangeable Pin Cylinders Mirrored Song Sheet Beautiful Case. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! We have not come across such a beautiful music box as this in a long time. Beautiful wood case with great marquetry detailing. Made by the Reuge Music Company of Saint-Croixe, Switzerland. The top is securely attached to the base by the hinges. Same with the interior door over the movement that is mostly glass. The glass is intact no cracking or blistering. The pin cylinders are done in a beautiful gold colored lacquer. The top, sides and bottom of the case are in very good condition. No warping, splits or repairs that we can ascertain. Beautiful Rosewood Case with an inlaid design on the top and front of this large case. The inlay design on the top is of two horns and other items. The front inlay design is of a flute and a mandolin. There is some inlay and veneer loss to the case. Look closely at the pics. The wood legs are still in place. The glass in intact on the inner door over the movement, no cracking or blistering. The top is securely attached to the rest of the case by the hinges. The song sheet is etched on a mirrored piece of glass on the inside of the top of the case. The music box dates to the 1970s to 1980s. The brass movement was made in Switzerland. The music box plays 5 different tunes, one on each cylinder. The music box appears to have been well maintained over the years. The 2.75 long pin cylinder shows little to no loss of finish. He wind mechanism of the movement works as expected and the wind spring feels sound when keyed. There are 5 tunes, one on each cylinder; 1 March of the Toy Soldiers – Tchaikovsky, 2 The Music of the Night (Phathom of the Opera) – Webber, 3 Canon – Pachelbel, 4 17th Variation on a Theme of Paganini – Rachmaninoff, and 5 The Wind Beneath My Wings – Henley. The case of the music box is in just amazing condition. No cracks, splits or missing pieces. The top of the case sits down evenly on the base and is firmly attached to the base by its’ hinges. No warping of the top. The four legs are in place on the case, have green felt on their bottoms. The song board is done on a mirrored piece of glass on the inside of the top. The comb is in excellent condition. All the approximately 50 teeth are in place, and we see no past repairs to any of the teeth. The gold colored plated finish on the comb shows little to no finish loss. The pin cylinder looks to be in very nice shape finish wise. Cannot say if any of the pins on the cylinders are bent or missing. The music box tunes sound great when the music box is played, so sounds like the pins are all hitting the comb teeth as expected. The stop (end of song) and start selector button works on the music box. The music box case is 5″ tall, by 17″ across, by 8 wide. The brass pin roller is 2.75 across, pin cylinder body only.
