The movement was made in Germany by the Karl Griesbaum company, and encased in a wonderfully enameled case with a hand-painted lid scene of a basket of flowers with a bird flying overhead. It appears to be at least 80 years old, dating from the 1920’s or 1930’s. Overall dimensions are 4 wide 10 cm. X 2.5 6 cm. Deep x 2 5 cm. The refeathered multi-colored bird emerges from his “nest” when activated by the slide lever at the right of the box. It comes out to sing a beautiful song and then goes back inside, out of sight.
