Beautiful antique Ward-Stilson Co. 9584, manufactured in Anderson, Indiana and dating to the early 20th century, likely circa 1910s-1920s. This unusual mechanical harp contains a wind-up music-box mechanism. It is working: after winding, moving the control lever starts the music and moving it back stops it. It will play for several minutes from a winding. The dark wood body features an elegant gilt-tone foliate decoration on the front and the original interior paper label reading AUTOMATIC HARP No. 9584 – Manuf’d by The Ward-Stilson Co. Patent Applied For. The back, sides and base present very nicely for its age. The front has age-related wear including some scuffing and areas of milky white finish haze/clouding, particularly around the decorative area and upper portion. Despite its age, the musical mechanism still plays, which gives this piece tremendous character. An impressive piece of early mechanical music, fraternal history and American decorative craftsmanship. Please see all photos carefully for exact condition and details. Antique 1885 Mermod Frères Swiss 10-Air Cylinder Music Box. This is a lovely late 19th-century Mermod Frères 10-air cylinder music box, circa 1885. This is a classic Swiss music box with a beautiful illustrated tune sheet and a wonderful, crisp tone. The mechanism is in excellent condition – the cylinder pins are tall and sharp, the comb is complete, and it runs smoothly with a loud, clear, and bright sound. It plays exceptionally well. The case shows its age. The lid has a visible crack that goes all the way through, along with scratches on the floral inlay, chips, and areas of missing varnish/paint. The sides of the case are in much better shape with nice original finish. This is a very playable example of a Mermod Frères music box. While the case has honest wear and a crack in the lid, the musical movement itself is very clean and sounds fantastic. Comes exactly as pictured. Please review all photos carefully. 18″ Long x 9″ wide x 5.5 tall. Also includes the original zither muffler (the paper strip in the silver tube), which creates a softer, reedy tone when engaged. Antique German Kalliope wind up music box, known for its intricate design and sound quality when playing pierced metal music discs. Handcrafted in Germany by Kalliope Musikwerke Chemnitz/Leipzig, Germany around 1900. Wind up, with replacement crank, in working condition. Discs have some rust, discoloration and warps. Includes “Tell Me Pretty Maiden”; Waltz fr. San Toy”; “Star of my Soul”; “Jewel of Asia”; “God Save the Queen”; “Queen of the Earth”; “Star of Bethlehem; and two more. For sale is this charming antique hand-crank wooden music box. It features a rich, warm-toned solid wood case (likely oak or similar) with elegant raised paneling on the lid, beveled edges, and decorative molding along the base. A classic side crank with wooden handle winds and plays the mechanism, and there’s a small keyhole on the front (key not included, but it appears to lock the lid). When opened, the lid reveals a lovely sepia-toned framed print depicting a classical/musical theme: a central robed female figure (possibly a muse) surrounded by cherubs and angels playing instruments like violins, horns, and more, with a pipe organ in the background-perfect for music lovers or collectors of Victorian/antique decor. This is a working antique caged bird music box automation made by Tilco, Japan. Has original maker’s sticker on bottom. Features a small bird that moves from perch to perch while it plays music. The tradition of the legendary Swiss Huggler wood carving company dates back to 1846, and their world famous craftsmanship continues to this day. It measures approximately 8.5″ in diameter and 4.5″ tall. Watch videos of the antique Swiss Nut Bowl Music Box including the internal view of the music box mechanism. This music box mechanism has just been fully serviced (using the finest ” Clock 859 ” lubricant), and it works flawlessly as it should. We conclude that this lovely item was handcrafted sometime between the turn of the century and the 1930’s, on basis of the following criteria. Music box mechanism: e. All-brass construction; no plastic. Plastic pinion gears began to appear in the late 1950’s, and were widely used in music boxes, alarm clocks, and automata. The ornate typeface of the steel-punch mark of number “25” on the underside of bowl. The serifed typeface of “SWISS” steel punch on mechanism. Finally, the two labels: the style of handwriting “Kommt ein Vogel” which identifies the tune of the music box. However, you can make the similar educated guess on basis of the handwritings and ink of the labels, mechanism, steel punch marks, and the shape of the bowl. Please study the pictures carefully, as it is the condition in which you will receive. Note that the walnuts and the hand-held wooden nut cracker are not included. A relic of the legendary Swiss woodcarving craftsmanship by native Swiss people i. Not migrants from the Third World.
