Beautiful inlaid case with floral and vine pattern on lid within ebonized trim. 16 cylinder playing on triple comb with drum and castonettes mounted beneath. Box is in good working order with lovely tones. It is missing one tooth on short comb on right side facing and additionally with a repaired tooth on the same comb to the left of the missing one. Movement will need some adjustment to improve the manner in which the drum and castonettes are played. We have not disassembled this instrument to see exactly what needs to be adjusted, but it is operable at this time. Underside of lid is original music playlist with titles in French. Mahogany Case is in excellent original condition. Mechanical part of this music box been fully restored and cleaned recently, as you can note in the pictures. Combs are in excellent condition and have grand sound. Measures 22.5″ wide, 20″ deep and 13 tall. Added bounce: 8 excellent condition disks and original key. This is an exceptional antique walnut Polyphon double comb disc music box with 18 discs and a wrought iron music stand. The 15 1/2 disc playing music box is an absolute stunner, with a highly carved walnut case, two combs (each with one tooth missing) that works well. It plays nicely but has no functioning stop mechanism. The ornate cabinet measures approximately 23″ wide by 21″ deep and 14 high. It has no damage, no cracks, no chips or repairs. The (probably custom made) wrought iron music stand holds about 30 brass music discs, but is holding 18 (included) right now. The stand measures 39″ tall by 18″ wide. We are playing the music box regularly in our store and I’m sure that it will continue to provide enjoyment for many more years to come. Good luck and enjoy!
