IT STOPS AT THE END OF THE SONG LIKE IT SHOULD, REPEATS OR CHANGES AND PLAYS JUST AS IT SHOULD AND IT IS A GOOD LOOKING MUSIC BOX!! IT MEASURES 30 INCHES LONG BY 15 INCHES TALL AND 10.5 INCHES DEEP, IT IS A NICELY SIZED MUSIC BOX! Some scratches on mostly trim areas as seen in pictures. Music boxes were at the height of fashion in the late 19th century serving as a status symbol for European gentry. Switzerland was the birthplace of cylindrical music boxes and home to the most renowned manufacturers. Large boxes with many cylinders such as this one had the best orchestral sounds, making them the most desirable of their time. There are 3 cylinders that come with it and each has 6 elaborate tunes. These are all stored in a drawer inside a beautiful matching 42 inch wide-29 h-23 deep table. Inlaid Rosewood on all sides trimmed in Black. Indeed the sound resonance and volume of these “Ideal” music boxes is just great. This is called a “quattor” music box because of it’s tuning arrangement being a four-part harmony soprano.
