This Sorrento Musical Jewelry box measures approximately 8″ x 5″ x 3 tall and is in excellent condition for being 20+ years old! The body color is a deep mauve/pink color but was marketed as Wine Red. ” It features a light wood lacey arabesque marquetry inlay and plays, in 18 notes, “My Heart Will Go On from Titanic (1997). The interior is a pale pink velvet with a piece of clear plastic covering the music box inside. There is a pink velvet pad (not always pictured so you could see the music box) that goes over that for a fully lined interior. The original key is also included, and the lock does function. There is no crazing, cracks, or losses in the varnish- it is very shiny. This box has sat in my formal living room untouched since I got it. LARA’S THEME DR. This is a vintage Sorrento Specialties music box, circa the mid to late 1980’s. The exquisite Italian inlaid cabinet was made in Treviglio, Italy by the Arte Intarsio Company and was actually designed & crafted by the owner of the company Angelo Bornaghi, with his signature present on the front bottom left corner of the box. The cabinet was imported into Los Angeles, California by Sorrento Specialties and fitted with a Swiss made Reuge 2 tune 36 note musical mechanism which is mounted under protective glass. The musical mechanism has a winding key located on the bottom of the cabinet, and a play/ stop button located on the front of the cabinet. This box was acquired from the estate of Linda Pinson (original owner), who with her husband Ray ran “Ray & Linda’s Clock Repair” in Tustin, California. The box was acquired from the estate by Don Caine, owner of Music Box Repair Center Unlimited, and former warehouse & operations manager of Sorrento Specialties and later Reuge USA. WEIGHT: 1.5 lbs.
