Rare Vintage Limited Edition Walnut Reuge Music Box Plays 3 Mozart Songs. This exquisite cylinder music box made by renowned Swiss maker Reuge Music and has been established since 1865. This music box is numbered 3 of 50 and plays the music of Mozart. It plays 3 compositions which are as follows. Magic Flute – Zauberflote Vogelfanger. Ein Madchen oder Weinchen. The box is Walnut with a beautiful inlay design crafted and embellished with raised feet. On lifting the box lid there is a lovely glass viewing window which houses the musical movement this glass lid can also be lifted for inspection. The winder is on the bottom of the box and once wound it plays the wonderful music of Mozart. It has been kept in great condition and is in full working order. The history of Reuge. Sainte-Croix village was the renowned centre of the nascent music box industry. It was this village whose fame had travelled far and wide that Charles Reuge discovered in 1865, when he established his first musical pocket-watch shop in Sainte-Croix. A pioneer, he managed to incorporate a musical cylinder and a miniature comb into a watch movement. These watches were just the beginning. This is wonderful vintage item, rare and very collectible and would make a lovely gift or to be kept and enjoyed as a family heirloom for generations to come.
