Rare Vintage Steinbach S2 German Music Box – Erzgebirge Folk Art – Working Condition. Beautiful handcrafted music box from the Steinbach Gr. Präsentspieldose S2 series, made in Hohenhameln, Germany. This collectible piece features charming, hand-painted wooden figures in the traditional Erzgebirge folk art style. ? Music box mechanism winds and plays properly. ? Classic German craftsmanship with detailed painted flowers, trees, and woodland characters. The center pinecone “tree” (a large footed pinecone) is missing, along with 2 small pinecones that originally sat beside it. 2 rabbits remain in the center, but both are missing their heads. One human figure on the outer ring is missing entirely (only a stump remains). Another human figure is present but damaged : missing head, part of one arm, and the mushrooms she originally held. Some light scuffing and paint wear consistent with age. Label intact on underside. Please see all photos for accurate visual detail. Despite the cosmetic flaws, the music plays well and it still displays beautifully – a great candidate for restoration or to enjoy as-is.
