This is in beautiful condition with no chips or cracks, and works beautifully! You wind at the bottom, and there is a button on the side you push to make this play a tune, and the compartments all open up wide to expose inside. Inside there is a metal cherub playing a mandolin figure. The top finial is an Asian lady. This measures 15 1/2 high. This plays a tune but I do not know what it is. The bottom is marked Tibet 2. ORIENTAL 11121 BLACK ASIAN BAKELITE SMOKING SET CIGARETTE CASE LIGHTER MUSIC BOX. Up for your consideration is this really nice true antique “Oriental” brand cigarette case lighter – music box in the form of a grand piano – made from Bakelite. These are becoming hard to find, and this one has the important parts working – The music box and the lighter! It is missing the bottom tray – so its not perfect – but working as it does it would still make an awesome addition to your smoking collection!! This is a precision made piece – it is put together with lots of tiny stainless steel screws, like a fine watch, I must say it is pretty impressive. Please be sure to see the other items we have listed. FEATURES: Precision made from Bakelite with stainless crews and a chrome plated lighter. When the lid is lifted the music plays and it comes from a quality music box as the notes sound pleasant to the ear… It is embossed with 2 chipmunks on the top among the vines and “berries”? When the lid is up and you need a light simply press the flat spot in front of the lighter and the lighter cover pops up and strikes a flame automatically… INCLUDED: The actual smoking music box pictured. NOT-INCLUDED: No original box, packaging, or paperwork. No props used for size reference. DIMENSIONS: It measures about 5-1/4″ wide x 6-1/2″ deep (front to back) x 2-1/8 tall. COLOR: Jet black Chrome Lighter and legs. TYPE: Smoking set, musical. CIRCA: Likely around the 1940’s give or take 10 years. MATERIAL: Bakelite case, metal legs and lighter, music works. CONDITION: This comes to you in overall excellent condition. The only mentionables are that the interior push-plate that fits into the bottom of the cigarette case is missing. The other thing is that a tiny piece of the piano case (above and to the left of the cigarette case) has broken off – I almost did not notice it at first – it is pictured – but unless you are looking for it you wouldn’t notice it. Aside from the missing plate and the chip it is in otherwise excellent condition. As stated the music box works great and the lighter mechanism also works perfectly.
