Coin-op Adler Antique Musical Box, Leipzig c. Plays 26 1/8″ discs 6’8″ high. Huge sound with excellent tuning. This Style 365 music box plays 4 combs- all in excellent condition with no rust and in beautiful clear tone. I restored, cleaned and adjusted the motor and bedplate assembly in December- (two gears were damaged, parts were missing on the coin op, and the governor needed work). When a tiny coin is inserted, the coin op arm drops and the motor operates flawlessly. The box took 5 pfennig pieces, but there are a few handfuls of tiny 2 cent euro pieces that work very well. The bedplate and all components have been well cleaned and function without problem. All dampers are intact under the combs, but they must still be adjusted to eliminate some squeaks and vibrations. There ARE 4 missing teeth that must still be replaced including one lowest note and one of the base teeth is bent slightly to the side. All existing woodwork is original- coin drawer, motor cover etc. Though the cornice ornament is missing. I could see no indication that this box came with feet or bottom ornament originally. The matching base cabinet is an excellent copy c. 1960 and is slightly lighter in tone. Both together without cornice are 203cm high, 88cm wide, 46 cm deep. There are 11 original 8000 series discs included- all very playable though still dirty.
