Extraordinary vintage Japanese pagoda lipstick caddy plays “Somewhere My Love”. 11.50 Tall x 4.34 base. Push the small latch at the side down and the pagoda plays music whilst the six metal. Panels all simultaneously open to reveal their compartments made to accommodate your lipsticks! Make your decision swiftly, however, as the whole ensemble neatly folds up in one movement. Again as the music finishes at the end of the tune, all perfectly timed! Not marked but was almost certainly made in Italy in a small town near Florence and contains. A musical movement manufactured by Reuge of Switzerland. This is in mint condition and plays as it should. This was in a closet of the home we are. Please ask for any other details. Antique French Cigar / Candy Caddy Music Box Works. Manual Open and Close Top Wood Case w/ Brass Trim and Artwork on Panels. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! So, we were still nice enough to take the item back from the party. The music box dates to the mid-1800s. An old paper label in French is still on the bottom of the case. There was another label over the music box access that is no longer there. The brass movement is in place and operates. All the teeth are in place on the comb. The music box holds a wind, and the on/off switch works to make the music box play or stop. The case of the wood music box is in just amazing condition for being this old. Beautiful scalloped design to the case with gold designs painted on the top and then the sides of the base. The bottom plate of the music box has a crack across it. The music box sits on 3 wooden legs screwed to the bottom of the case. A chip in the wood along the top of the base that has been stained black to mask at some point in past. Great looking Continental images on the outside of each panel showing couples dancing or flirting. Not sure if these images are original to the piece or not. Some chippage to the finish on the panels in places. Some chipping to the case on one side. Most of the black enamel paint is still in place. Most of the metal beaded trim is in place as well. No cracks, splits or missing pieces to the case. The cigar caddy top is not operated by the music box. You have to operate the opening and closing of the panels manually by the top finial to have the painted images show or the brass and wood panels where you would places cigars or stick candy. Neat old wooden gear the top finial is attached to for opening/closing the panels. A couple of the panels could use some adjustment. The Cigar / Candy Caddy Music box case is 11.75″ tall, by 7″ across, by 7 wide. The painted panels are 5-5/8 tall. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
