It’s rare and unique, but definitely flawed. On the front, there is one bird to the right and in the same position on the left, there’s just a hole. I figure there is another bird missing. The rest of the outside is in good physical condition. The interior middle wall that separates the music motor from the jewelry area is loose and needs to be reglued. The music plays, but VERY slowly. This is very impressive in person, and I’ve never seen another one like it. It’s 6″ wide x 4″ deep and 6 tall (including the handle on the lid). Weight: 1 lb 10 oz. This piece is handmade in Capodimonte ceramic and finished with gold-plating and brass. As the doors open to the lovely “Lara’s Theme” from Dr Zhivago, the old style Reuge Lyre is revealed inside. As they close you are treated to “Edelweiss” from The Sound of Music. At it’s top, this piece features a tiny cherub playing a mandolin or lute. It is a beautiful porcelain musical in the Capodimonte cherub and floral design and measures approximately 9″ in diameter and 15″ high. This Large 15 SIMU Florence Italy Capodimonte Porcelain Musical Lipstick Cigarette Carousel Music Box is a rare find for collectors. Vintage REUGE Italian Cherub Music Carousel Cigarette /Lipstick box 16 weight about 4 LBS. Originally designed to dispense cigarettes, it is a handmade ceramic piece made in Capodimonte, Italy. Finished with gold-plating over brass. PLEASE NOTE: a small part of the gold leaf is flaking in front of one of the doors. Music box still plays and all doors but one open up to the music playing. However, some TLC is needed, as a loose small item can be head rolling inside the music compartment. As the doors open to the music playing, a swan is revealed inside. At the top, this piece features a large gold leaf acorn. The box measures approximately 7.5″ in diameter (not including the feet) and 16″ high. No damages seen in the ceramic part. A piece truly worth restoring to its original beauty.
