Italian Music Box with Mechanised Moving Cigarette Dispenser. Entrancing vintage cigarette dispenser with Swiss Reuge musical movement that plays two songs — More and Moon River.. Wind the key on the bottom, press the button on the side, and the doors will start to open while playing music. The doors and base are adorned in a floral motif, and at the very top is a silver angel holding a lute. The floral designs on the piece are framed with silver, and other than polishing the silver; it is in in excellent condition and works flawlessly. The label on the bottom reads Argenteria G. Cacopardo is a high-end retailer specializing in silver, well known for his fine craftsmanship. He is located in Reggio, Calabria in Southern Italy.

Up for sale and your consideration is a Vintage Reuge Alabaster and Metal carousel music box manufactured in Italy during the early 70’s. Function: Designed as an ornamental dispenser, it is traditionally used to hold and display cigarettes or lipsticks. Mechanism: It features a Swiss musical movement that plays a melody (Doctor Zhivago’s Edelweiss) while the carousel opens and spins. Design: The piece is often adorned with decorative alabaster, featuring cherub figures or ornate metalwork. The musical mechanism is in excellent condition as is the exterior of the unit with no chips or scratches. I believe this is REUGE but it is not marked anywhere. It is manual, meaning that you open the door and then the music box will plays. It works with no issues. There are other others that are automatic and open the 4 doors, once you press the button. There is no button on this one. Condition is absolutely excellent. I don’t see any flaws on the alabaster. It literally looks like New.

This is a parts unit or a restoration project! Super cool and old. I found it at an estate sale. It looks like many years ago someone broke the bottom part and damaged the metal on the inside. I think this would make a fanatic project. If not, it’s a great parts unit. I do know that but sadly the condition is just terrible. Please message me with any questions! From what I understand, this one was created by the artist – Reuge. It needs to be restored! The bottom piece was hit and broken at some point. This caused part of the frame to get damaged. This is an incredibly rare carousel music box. An Italian ceramic tabletop carousel has angels on doors that open when “I Could Have Danced All Night” is played on a Swiss music box. It has a push button that starts the music and opens and closes the doors with musical cherubs. This vintage centerpiece dates from the days when cigarettes went with dessert and coffee with cream and sugar were good for you. Mounts are gold plated.
