For sale is what I believe is a Mira Empress 15 1/2 inch disk console music box. It was professionally restored. It plays very well as it should. There is a shrinkage crack above and below the key in the door that could not be completely restored and it shows in the pictures. It is a double comb and I do not believe there are any broken teeth. This listing is for a beautiful antique music box as well as 4 different metal music discs. Dimensions (approximate) : Length = 9.5″ Height = 5″ Width = 8.5. The box has wear from age, use, and storage. There are some cracks in the top of the wood, but it is still held together. The latch is missing the hook mechanism to “lock” it in place. I’m not sure what functioning issues it has, it seemed like it hadn’t been used in awhile. I cranked it and the song played. It definitely would need some restore to fully spin smooth and sound perfect. As it is now, it still plays with a neat antique sound and it looks beautiful overall. A lovely Victorian “Empress” signed music box from about 1900 plays beautifully and includes 15 discs. The single comb mechanism is in fine playing condition and winds with a crank. The original finish is fairly preserved on the mahogany case of this antique from Switzerland. Discs have a wide variety of tunes and some rust as shown. The titles on two of the disks are faded and I’m unable to determine what they are. Titles not in the pictures include. “By the Sycamore tree (Hoffman)”. March and Two Step (Smith). “Jack Tar March (Sousa)”. “In Zanzibar’My Little Chimpanzee’ from the medal and the maid (Edwards)”. “King Cotton March (Sousa)”.
