This early-to-mid-century music box is a classic beauty and is in great condition. It has been cleaned and serviced for another generation to enjoy. The burl wood is iconic. This FOUR-tune playlist celebrates popular romantic tunes originating from operas and theater in the 1920’s and 1930’s. Lift the lid to reveal the world-class 4/50 movement from the Swiss craftspeople of Thorens. You will see it is clean and shiny and it looks great. The mechanism winds up smoothly and functions perfectly. It switches between the songs effortlessly and automatically. The music starts and stops (at tune end) via the front slider. The original Thorens tune label is present. This music box plays four songs from early 20th-century operettas, musicals, or film operettas. They blend lush melodies with sentimental themes of love – in waltz or lyrical ballad style. The tunes are very popular in older Thorens playlists and are well-adapted to music boxes. The Student Prince in Heidelberg. Two Hearts in Waltz Time. The case is from Paul Margot (L’Auberson) and is in good vintage condition. It looks great on a shelf and it is structurally perfect. The finish is in good shape with minimal crazing. There are three dings on the front face. There is veneer loss on the front two corners and general light wear. Please see the pictures for the beauty and character of this piece. The musical movement was inspected, lightly cleaned, serviced, and cycled. The sound quality is EXCELLENT. It is rich and crisp. There are NO instances of resonance (squawks or buzzes) that can occur in vintage music boxes. These vintage Thorens box are LOUD thanks to the excellent construction. Please see the video and enjoy this wonderful box! The box measures 6-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ x 2-3/4. Over 80% of the boxes that I find have issues that need various fixes — from simple to complex. My statements will be backed by quality pictures and a FULL video. Service and Inspection Checklist. Clean and condition with wood polish/feed. Remove and clean the glass. Ensure proper glass fit and eliminate rattles. Check hinge for proper closing. Ensure proper operation and sound quality. Eliminate resonance issues (buzzes or squawks). Inspect dampers and replace as needed. Inspect governor and eliminate ticking noises. Ensure start/stop mechanism works properly. Ensure tune advance mechanism works. Remove debris from cylinder. Inspect cylinder and repair bent pins. Lubricate with watchmakers oil.

Made in September of 1971, it is a gift-ready, heirloom piece that has been cleaned and serviced for the next generation to enjoy. The inlaid wood box is classic and beautiful – a perfect complement to the music it plays! Lift the lid to reveal a highly-desired, world-class 3/72 movement from the Swiss craftspeople at Reuge. The movement is clean and shiny and it looks great. The mechanism winds up smoothly and the sound quality is excellent. It switches between the songs perfectly and automatically. The music starts and stops (at song end) via the front slider button. This music box plays “Tara’s Theme” in 3 parts – an extremely rare playlist. “Tara’s Theme” is the iconic, nostalgic musical score from the 1939 film Gone with the Wind. The tune is a timeless classic in film scoring and is known for its haunting beauty, evoking deep emotion through its tender melody. The wood case is in perfect vintage condition. It is highly unusual to find this box style in such a condition. The finish is terrific and there is no notable damage. The movement was cleaned, lubricated, and lightly reconditioned. There are minor oxidation spots typical for the age. It retains 100% of its original look and feel. VINTAGE 1984 ELVIS PRESLEY AND RISING SUN FULL SIZE MUSIC BOX DECANTER EMPTY. Unit measures 16″ in height and the stand 10″. The music box still works. The box is in poor condition but still mostly intact as you can see in the pics. There is some residue on the back of Elvis and the horse’s rump.

It was handcrafted in the late 1980’s by a local Chicago artist. The horse is made out of a resin material and hand painted to look distressed. The pole is an antique brass. The base is crafted out of wood and includes a music box winder that plays the song “It’s a Small World”. The horse can be lifted off of the brass pole as well as out of the base. It is lightweight and not mean’t for actual sitting/riding on. It is a decorative piece only! The whole stand is 61 high. The horse itself is 27″w X 22″h. The base is 15″w X 9″h.
