The movement is marked M. 1846 (Mermod Frères, Sainte-Croix, Switzerland) and retains its Jacot Music Box Co. New York label inside the case. The original tune card is mounted on the lid and lists six songs. 6-Air cylinder (plays six tunes). Maker’s marks: M. Jacot Music Box Co. (New York) dealer label. Tune card present on underside of lid. Repeater / Change lever intact. 16″ wide x 8″ deep x 6 tall. ? Condition (In Need of Repair). Spring does not wind – movement does not fully engage. Cylinder rotates slightly when tested by hand, but not under spring power. Case shows scattered wear, scratches, and finish loss. Tune card has edge losses and wear. This listing is for an antique Swiss cylinder music box. This one is by Jacot & Sons. It is quite large and plays 8 songs. It appears to be in overall good condition. The crank is missing however. We took it to a local clock shop where they used a tool to crank it up. It ran when tested. This music box was last serviced in 2014. The teeth are all present. The case has signs of normal wear and age such as some minor scratches. The case is unlocked, but the skeleton key is missing. 17 x 8.5 x 6 inches. Up for sale is an antique Swiss cylinder music box by Jacot & Sons. The cylinder music box played when wound. The songs that it plays are listed on the paper label, but the writing is completely faded. There are 8 songs (airs) total. The piece appears to be in overall good condition- some scratches from age. It appears to have a unique movement. To play the next song, a wire can be pulled from beneath. The skeleton key to lock the lid is not present, but it is not really an issue as none of the music boxes that we have found have them. We inherited this piece from a late relative that specialized in clocks and clock related restoration. We ourselves are not experts.
