All looks intact, no chips or cracks to the glass, there does appear to be some glue overflow on the bottom right corner as shown. I thought it may be a crack but upon close inspection, it looks like some glue overflow. Brass in nice shape. Shows wear, tarnish, dust and dirt commensurate with age use and display. Unfortunately, this does not work and feels like it is overwound. The winder barely turns and feels to be under pressure. This is an extremely rare piece we have up for sale! Made of wood with a glass top. The music is a beautiful sound. The lid moves up and down on a pin that starts/stops the music. Please note the pin sometimes sticks when opening the lid and can be pulled out.

This is a charming vintage Japanese automaton music box featuring a bright yellow canary inside a gilt metal birdcage surrounded by decorative fabric flowers. The piece is marked Japan on the base and dates to the mid-20th century, circa 1950s-1970s. When wound, the mechanism plays a pleasant tune while the bird gently moves, creating a delightful display of both sight and sound. The birdcage measures approximately 10 inches tall by 6 inches wide. Condition is very good for age, with expected light wear to the cage finish and flowers, but the music box and automaton both function beautifully. Some linkage wires are visible near the bird, common to these vintage Japan cages. Video has been uploaded to demonstrate working condition.
