This octagon-shaped music box is very rare. The only other Reuge Texas-themed music boxes currently on the internet are rectangular or square, and they do not feature the extraordinary wood that this box does. Guesses from wood-working friends as to the types of wood. Background (largest portion of wood): Rosewood, Tiger Oak, Oak, Walnut. Texas: Burled White Oak, Burlwood, Bird’s Eye Maple. Rose: Pine dyed in two different shades for petals and stem. Height: Just over 3. WEIGHS 1 pound, 12 ounces. 8 brass feet, all in good condition. Music box plays song perfectly. Red velvet lining interior in good condition. Brass on keyhole discolored in places (see 4th-from-last photo for accurate depiction). 1/2-inch scratch about 1 inch to the right of top side of East Texas (see 3rd-from-last photo for accurate depiction). Minor scuffing on upper right quadrant of box (see last 2 photos for accurate depiction). See 7th photo to note places where there is a tiny gap between velvet lining and wooden frame.
