Beloved characters Otto and Victoria, in music box form. Only 250 of these were made (produced in late 2017 through mid-2018), so they are limited edition and he doesn’t plan on making more. Included also is an exclusive in person Pre-Order print that is signed which was #1 out of 250. All original packaging included. The music box is made of resin. The dimensions are 12″ x 11″ x 10 and it weights 3 pounds and 1 ounce. The music is played by an electronic device. It also lights up and rotates. The German company was founded in Wahren, Leipzig, as Firm Brachhausen & Riesener by Gustas Adolph Brachhausen and Ernst Paul Riessner in 1887 for manufacturing their new 1870 invented mechanical disc-playing music box Polyphon. The company was renamed to Polyphon-Musikwerke AG in 1895. Polyphon by Musikwerke Disc Player is in working condition; includes 7 Metal Discs. The wooden music box, believed to be made from tiger-wood , measures 10in high by 21in by 19in. Tiger-wood cabinets are rare and hard to find. The majority of cabinets made during this era were mahogany. Tiger-wood is an exotic wood species that is best known for its beautiful grain. With its deep reddish/orange background with dark vein stripes, it is a dramatic and durable hardwood. Otto Pohland from Chemintz, Germany brass name plate inside , beautiful original flower inlaid top which distinguishes this beautiful music box aesthetically. Serial number etched on Polyphon gold plate is #162. It plays with a beautiful tonal quality. It has been maintained with professional care over many decades from the estate acquired from. I’d recommend to the new owner that he/she continue that basic service provided by previous owner, so this antique Polyphon continues to play well into the foreseeable future. Everything is working properly on this single comb machine. No key for box.. Please note that antiques are not new and may have some bumps and bruises from age and use, this adds to the charm and character and shows it’s history. Overall in excellent condition. If you have an antique Olympia disc music box which was made by F G Otto and Sons in Jersey City, NJ and it is missing the coin operated mechanism, then you need these parts. Probably one of the only set of these floating around in the universe. These are only for the Olympia disc boxes which had the large spring motor in them, not the earlier Criterions with the undersized spring motors (some late Criterions did have the large spring motor as well The smaller Criterion motors have main gears off of the spring barrel the same size as on a Capital cuff box). Normally these Olympia coin op disc music boxes had a push lever sticking out the front of the box, which pushed the coin when it was in the hopper of this (if it was a slug with a hole, it wouldn’t trip). Antique “The Olympia” Music Box. This music box comes with one 8.5 disk. The disc is Stars and Stripes. The top of the box does have a small split from age. Also the start/stop control doesnt always work, this might just need a good cleaning. Ive played it 15 times to test it and the start stop didnt work twice out of 15 times.
