This handmade item features intricate details and grinder seems to be functional but the music box part has only been able to get it to do small short sounds and rarely. May have been over wound. Also one of the stabilizing feet has been bent in a small bit and I didn’t want to try to pull it out and risk further damage. With a pre-1900 time period of manufacture and if you can get it to work a charming French tune called “Tout va tres bien Madame la Marquise, ” this music box is sure to delight collectors and enthusiasts of decorative items.

This beautiful vintage (like new) music box pepper grinder, is a unique porcelain pepper mill made in Italy. The hand painted porcelain features cherubs and is multicolored with bright brass trim. The Reuge Swiss Musical Movement plays “The Sound of Music” sounds great! The music will play once the mill is picked up. It stands 10 inches tall and is 3.5 inches wide, and weighs 1 lb-5 oz.

This vintage, collectible mid-century piece is a VERY tough one to come by nowadays! It is in excellent shape and good working order! It is constructed of a porcelain Capodimonte center, with wood and brass fittings above and below it. A brass gilt faun stopper can be removed from the top, where the pepper can be inserted. Then when moving the gilt brass crank, the ground pepper will be ejected from the brass lion face on the front of the grinder. It measures approximately 6″W × 4.25″D × 11.75H.
