The machine is in antique, unrestored condition. The start/stop lever does not consistently remain engaged on its own and must be manually held in position for continuous play. The lever mechanism may benefit from adjustment or servicing. One comb tooth is missing, resulting in a single absent note during play. All remaining comb teeth are intact. Decorative lower beading shows minor loss/wear consistent with age. Cabinet retains original finish with age-appropriate wear. Winding handle runs smoothly. Interior lithograph panel remains vibrant and intact. Discs are flat with no cracks or splits observed. Length: 20″ Width: 17.75″ Height: 11″ Disc diameter: approximately 14″. These selections represent late 19th-century popular repertoire reflecting minstrel-era and cakewalk themes common in American sheet music of the period. 2109 – The Blue and the Gray. 2037 – Monastery Bells. 2119 – Sweet Antoinette. 2012 – Happy Days in Dixie. 2055 – At a Georgia Camp Meeting. 2064 – Lou and Sue. 2088 – Where the Sweet Magnolias Bloom. 2128 – Don’t Be Cross. 2089 – King Cotton March. 2088 – Verlasseni Verlasseni. 2107 – There’ll Come a Time. 2050 – The Mother of the Girl I Love. All twelve (12) discs are in good antique condition consistent with over 120 years of age. Each disc measures approximately 14 inches in diameter (15-inch class). Discs are flat with no cracks or edge splits observed. Perforations remain clean and intact. Surface shows normal age-related oxidation and light wear. Lithographed titles remain legible. These discs feature repertoire typical of turn-of-the-century American popular music and are consistent with the catalog offerings of the period / era. For sale is an antique music box made by the Perfection Music Box Co of Newark and/or Jersey City, NJ in the late 1800s. The music box has the single comb mechanism and plays 14 inch disc. There are two good disc included: Paloma and Liberty Bell March. The music box mechanism is complete, all original, shows no damage–all of the comb’s teeth are good, and it plays, but may have a random or missed note periodically. The cabinet of the music box has been refinished and looks great. If someone picks this up they are certainly welcome to take the cabinet.
