The music box itself has a wind up key on the back, and once turned on, there is a ring that circles the Holy Family and there are four stationary lambs on it. The music of Silent Night plays when the music box is turned on. Inside the creche are the Holy Family (3), 4 lambs and 1 Donkey. On the outside are a cow, 3 Wisemen, 2 Lambs, and 2 Shepherds one boy and one girl. The individual figures are about 3″ tall (except the lambs) and the Creche is 13.5″ wide by 8 deep.

This Reuge Manger Scene music box is in great condition for its age. It has some very unnoticeable flaws, and sings Silent Night beautifully for Christmas. Reuge has operated since 1886, so dating this box is rather tricky. I’m guessing, based on the label and the box, it’s somewhere around the 1950s. This piece stands 10″ high, and 11 1/2″ wide. Please use the photos as a part of the description, as they will tell much more than I can about it.

This vintage music/jewelry/dresser box is lovely and would make a wonderful Christmas gift. The richly-burled wood grain has an inlaid wreath and the lid is smartly contrasted by black trim. This holiday music box is from a limited edition and is number 23 out of 500 produced. Lift the lid and the music begins. The musical movement is made by the craftspeople of Reuge, located in St. The mechanism winds up smoothly and functions perfectly. It is a 36-tooth mechanism, so it sounds richer than the typical 18-tooth economy movements in most jewelry boxes. The music starts and stops by opening and closing the lid. The original Reuge label is on the underside of the lid. This music box has felt-lined compartments for your treasures. The key is included and it works. This music box plays the Christmas classic, Silent Night. The box is in excellent condition. It is structurally perfect. There are no notable flaws or damage. The internal felt is in great shape and is clean. Please see the pictures for the issues — and for the beauty of this piece. The musical movement was inspected, cleaned, lubricated, and cycled. The sound quality is very good and the little movement throws a lot of sound. There are NO resonance issues (buzzes/chirps) that can occur in vintage boxes. I always include a video so there are no surprises (second media slot in the listing)! The box measures 8-1/4″ x 8-1/4″ x 3. 80% of the boxes that I find have issues that need various fixes.
