Lecoultre Freres 8 Tune Music Box from circa 1860. The lead is warped as shown in one of the pictures. This music box manufacture made an extremely high-quality music box over the years. The sound of this box sounds much different than most because the notes really do ring out, I assume the heat treated the combs to a different temper than others. In a case to see very nice music box just waiting to find a new home.

Symphonian upright disc music box on original cabinet, coin operated, double comb model. In excellent playing condition with nineteen 19 discs. Overall approximately 86high and 31 inches wide. Coin operation with extra wide teeth for better sound quality. Symphonian was known for exceptional tonal quality, and this example certainly exemplifies that assessment. This music box comes with an original stand and 19 discs. All mechanical components of the music box were restored and operate correctly. The coin operation functions as appropriate but with the coin retention area removed for easier use in a home. The base cabinet is equipped with storage compartments for the additional discs. A word about condition. Those of you who have. I will try to note anything of significance in the description. However, please check the photos carefully—as they say’a picture. Wonderful antique Swiss music box playing four aires on a small cylinder. In tune; runs a bit fast, music is very nice. Start/stop mechanism inside could use adjustment, but its very easy to regulate by hand. Plays a bit fast adding alittle length to the governor should do the trick, a few slight damper squeaks as to be expected. Very melodic, sweet tone. Runs smoothly one tooth missing from the comb. Box is in overall good shape, framed glass dust cover opens and closes to access the mechanism. I will wind up a little about 1 1/4″ turn and will play for a little while but if you crank it more than 1 1/4″ turn the spring seems to slip. It measures 3 3/4″ long x 2 1/4″ x 1 1/4. I had a question about this item they wanted to know if it runs fine? This was my response. I would not say it runs fine. Please note that in the listing I stated that It will wind up a little and run short time. If you attempt to fully wind it up for longer run time something slips in the spring that causes it not to fully wind up. That tooth looks to me to be more bent than broken since the tip is there, I have not tried to streighten it. So I would have to say it is as seen in the photos. Thanks for your questions.
