The movement was made in Germany by the successors to the Karl Griesbaum company, and encased in an artfully engraved bombe-shaped case with an enameled top, styled after the Swiss bird boxes by Bruguier of the mid-1800’s. The multi-colored bird emerges from his “nest” when activated by the slide lever at the right of the box. It comes out to sing a beautiful song and then goes back inside, out of sight.
