1880s GEM ROLLER ORGAN with1 COB, Mechanics WORK withSOUND Great Restoration PROJECT
1880s GEM ROLLER ORGAN w/1 COB, Mechanics WORK w/SOUND Great Restoration PROJECT. NOTE: All serious offers will be considered – THANKS. Produced by the Autophone Company and this unit looks to have been made in the early 20th century and has a date of Oct 5, 1910 on the bellows feeder bottom below the paper label/direction sheet. Its in overall used condition, case and mechanics show wear, bottom side sections and actual bottom may have been replaced at some previous time, but please judge for yourself as I’m simply not sure. Just the fact that it produces some music makes me think its mechanically complete, but you be the judge. Gold stencil designs and the top lettering are really in pretty great condition on the upper case body. Measures about 14-1/2 inches x 12 inches x 8 inches. It does produce organ like music when cranked at the right speed but its not very loud, so, I’m sure it needs a bellows or reed system rebuild, alignment, etc. I had a look on the Internet and there are numerous instructional videos available for replacing these parts and also sources for these organ rebuild kits. The Gem Roller Organ. In fancy gold script letters across the very top. The included cob is numbered 65 and titled What A Friend We Have In Jesus. Has kind of a neat load/unload mechanism, once a cob is locked into place its impossible to remove, it requires 3 complete turns to complete the music and before the worm gear drive is disengaged to allow for a cob change!! See the link below for some fantastic info on this popular model hand crank organ. Also, will remove handle and pack separate to protect, easy to put back on. This would be a great candidate for a full restoration and priced to sell now as-is. Please view all 12 photos to help judge condition.
