Made of beautiful, high-quality burl-wood which I have treated with wood oil, Swiss movement, with a sterling silver Thorens shield in the middle. I spent a long time looking around for another with the exact same movement this one has, but I couldn’t find a single one. I emailed photos to an expert and he said that he had never seen one like it before. It does not play when opened, I believe it is probably over-wound? The key will turn a few times and stop. The rest of the movement seems to work just fine though, if you manually spin the cylinder it will play the tunes, and the “corkscrew-paddle” part spins just fine.
