Original Gem Roller Organ. Has never been repaired or restored. Totally original condition and plays and works great! Please see photos for details of condition. It needs a good detailed dusting. Please note I have really highlighted the top two back corners of the organ. I’m showing with and without flash side by side. With flash shows every detail and makes it look worse than it actually appears but I want to show everything. We’ve got 8 cobs we will be listing separately. 11.5 deep- organ itself. 15 deep with organ and handle. Here is a little background I found. The “Gem” was the smallest, cheapest, and most popular of the roller organ range. It is basically a 20-note suction-operated reed organ in a light wooden table-top case. The roller, drive mechanism, and pallet valves are mounted on cast-iron brackets on the top front section of the case. The brass reeds are mounted on the inside of the sloping panel, directly behind the pallets. The pumping bellows or feeders are mounted in the lower section of the case, with the reservoir at the top rear. The rear section of the reservoir is covered with black rubberised “bellows cloth”, and moves up and down as the instrument plays.
