Swiss Bremond 6-bell Cylinder Musical Box, c. 1876, serial # 12865 with 6 tuned bells. The works are brass and include working mechanisms for start/stop, change/repeat, a tune indicator, a winding crank and an on/off lever for the bells. The 6 nickel-plated tuned and highly carved bells are set in 2 groups of three an are struck with brass birds. The 13.5 in. Brass cylinder plays the following program. In the Sweet By And By. Nearer, My God to Thee. Last Rose of Summer. The tune card is original and in excellent condition. Music box is fully functional and sounds beautiful. The case measures 23″ x 12.5″ x 11.50. The walnut case is faux finish with veneer with triple boxstring inlay on the front and the cover. The music box has some restoration performed in September 2005. There is some wear and minor damage on the exterior corners and lid, which were refinished. The cover features an inlay of a mask, tambourine with green tambours, trumpet and box and arrow in a leaf and branch spray.
