REGINA STYLE 35 AUTOCHANGER MUSIC BOX. An All-Original American Beauty!! We are offering a true slice of American industrial precision engineering, dating to the early 1900’s, with Serial # 3500127. This is our favorite of all automatic changers, as it is highly decorative and quite simple in terms of mechanical complexity when compared to it’s larger siblings. Also, it will fill a room with music without taking up an enormous amount of space. Known as a Style 35, it is a home, or “Parlor” model. Thus the combs have much less wear than a typical Style 36, the coin-op version that was used in taverns and hotels and usually have significant sound issues. The combs on this music box have no broken or replaced teeth, and no damper squeaks. The disk rack holds 12 size 15.5 diameter disks, which will play in succession, or, if the operator wishes, can be repeated at any time, by means of the stop-start-repeat selector switch near the winding crank. One can also select which disk to play by means of the large round knob on the right side, which causes the disk rack to line up with the desired selection. An important feature of this music box is the “solid” lifting system, which does away with the strap and roller system found on most Regina auto-changers. We find this method to be much more reliable and trouble free. The top pediment is original, as indeed everything on the music box and casing seem to be. The lower table has a pull-out drawer for storing extra disks. The original key for the main music box is present as well. The winding crank is original. We will supply a full set of original disks as well. Overall dimensions are: 28″ wide x 69″ high x 20 deep. The rear panel is fitted with a piano sound board, enhancing the volume and resonance of the music. The combs also have a “zither” mechanism for adjusting the pitch. There is a speed control knob as well. A significant feature is the original “art glass” front door, which adds to the overall beauty. Nowadays, though, the art glass is so much in demand that reproduction pieces are available, but as I said, this one is original. Overall, this music box is a winner.
