This is a very old and weird bird cage, actual birds mounted and rigged with wires and gears to move and tweet. The first spring appears broken or untied from the frame. As such it doesn’t stay wound up, you have to hold it. All the gears and bellows work when switched on but as stated before, you’ll have to fix the winder spring to make it work properly without holding it. There is no date on it. Cage and base are made of brass. Top bird is missing a leg. Both birds are a bit rough and missing some feathers. This is the larger model, 20.5″ tall, 11.5″ diameter at base. “Made in France” stamped into the wood on the bottom. Very unique, I can’t find one exactly like it anywhere. I’ve taken the cover off and reassembled to reveal the gears and bellows are intact. Also to show the faulty spring in question.
