Rare Swiss 7-cylinder Music Box By Jean Billon Haller
Jean Billon Haller Music Box. Made in Geneva, Switzerland, in the late 1800’s, this rare and unusual music box is attributed to the small firm of Jean Billon Haller. The inlaid walnut case measures 28″ wide x 17″ deep x 14 high (when closed). The lower section holds the cylinders that are not in use. There are bronze lifting handles on either side. The mechanism, consists of seven (7) cylinders, 11″ x 2″ diameter, each playing four (4) tunes. The comb is in excellent condition with no broken teeth and no damper noises. There is a very unusual stop-start mechanism, in addition to a speed control. Power is supplied by a double-spring, lever-wind motor. While there are no tune cards, per se, each cylinder has a paper strip indicating the songs. This is an original feature of Haller’s music boxes and unique to his instruments. A rare and unusual, well-playing music box, offered at a great price. We are a leading world-wide dealer and specialist in mechanical music, clocks and phonographs and stand by what we sell 100%.
