Windup GREISBAUM CARVED GERMAN WHISTLER BLK FOREST LAMP POST DRUNK For Repair
LARGE MECHANICAL KEY WOUND VINTAGE CARVED GERMAN WHISTLER BLACK FOREST “LAMP POST DRUNK” -KARL GREISBAUM WORKS PRODUCED – FOR REPAIR. On offer is a large mechanical key wound vintage carved German Whistler Black Forest “Lamp Post Drunk” by the Karl Griesbaum Works – for repair. THE WHISTLER SOUND MECHANISM IS NOT FULLY WORKING IN PRODUCING ANY SOUND – ONLY PRODUCING PROPER BELLOWS MOVEMENT. Carving comes with German mechanical Key wound movement, but with no Key. Lamp light bulb works perfectly when cord plugged in. Over-all carving is in good vintage condition with great deeply saturated colors. Size: The entire piece is 17 tall including lamp encasement lacking roof. The widest point at the base is 5 1/4. The base is 3 1/2 deep. Appears to be post WW II. When wound up the spring and geared mechanism work perfectly and the neck and head of the drunk easily turns back and forth as intended when made. The whistling music bellows moves properly as well, but plays no tunes owning to what appears to be an dried frozen open flap valve at the bottom of the bellows; an easy simple fix for those familiar with the Whistler mechanical mechanisms and who do repairs on such items. We do not see any punctures, holes or tears in the bellows. The bottom base opening lacks its piece of slat wood access cover, also and easy fix. Wear, and scratches is consistent with age and use. Thin tin metal lamp from is lacking cheap tin roof which is easily fabricated and soldered onto lamp frame. One corner joint perhaps needs minute resoldering. Internally the whistler music box bellows bottom flap valve appears to leak – appearing to be partially dried and frozen open, easily repairable. Wind-up mechanism turns neck head assembly easily. Please see all photos, as they. Are part of the description. Lamp lacks glass or celluloid lamp panes.
