Antique 1800’s Swiss Music Box. 6 Airs. Hand Crank-Depose-works But Please Read
This antique Swiss music box from the 1800s is a rare find for any collector of decorative items. The hand-cranked box plays six airs and is marked “Deposee”. It is a great addition to any music box collection, and its unique history makes it a great conversation piece. The box was manufactured in Switzerland and is not handmade. It is in good working condition, but please read the item description carefully for any details about its condition. Gorgeous wood case – has been used and loved. Hand crank works but sometimes does not catch turn wheel. Does not turn on with switch, you must give the whirl a light flick to move. Once you do this, it plays beautifully. However, I feel like a piece is missing for the stop and play as when you toggle it from one to the other, it doesn’t do anything. Paper tag is marked. It is marked with the previous owners name at the bottom of the paper tag in pencil. It says “Swiss” at the top and lists the 6 airs. 2/ the bohemian girl. 4/ black and tan. There is wear to the box on the inside and outside. It plays beautifully once the wind up goes. Weighs 5.75 lbs. I assume the wood is walnut. Has glass covering music box cylinder. One hinge on lid is slightly loose. There is NO key. Thank you for looking!
