Antique 1890’s Regina Music Box Mahogany with 21 music discs
Antique Regina Music box with a double comb in a serpentine cabinet. Manufactured in the 1890’s by The Regina Company. The cabinet measures 20″ wide by 21″ deep by 13 tall. The short bedplate Regina music box was a late development marking the apex of Regina sound. These machines incorporated a bedplate half the width of the case, and a second upper sounding board. The result was a brilliant spectacular musical experience, even in comparison to earlier Regina models. Short bedplate machines are always double comb, and because of their superlative sound always command a premium among music box connoisseurs. The serpentine oak case has been nicely refinished. The combs are nice and clean, the leads show no oxidation, and the dampers are in regulation. Everything runs and sounds exactly as it is supposed to. Names of discs included.
