This antique Steeltongue Symphonion Music Box with changeable music sheets, was brought over from Germany to the U. By the owner’s Great Great Grandparents, well over 100 years ago.. Although a little’rough around the edges’, the music box is in Good Working Condition, having been over to the Owner’s apartment & witnessed & listened to it myself… I have not tested all 35 discs, but the owner assured me they work very well. Some of the discs have darker areas, no doubt due to age, & some are slightly warped. After observing the rotation of the disc myself, I can see why the warpage exists, as the discs are not exactly straight when rotating around the box, not affecting the quality of the music at all. You can see inside the lid that the description is given in FRENCH / GERMAN & ENGLISH, as is the musical descriptions on the changeable sheets / discs themselves.. The example above is titled “Farewell Sweet Home” No. The Music Box measures 13 1/2″ x 13 1/2″ & 7 High… The underneath equipment (Photos 7,8,9) is open & looks well oiled , with two cog wheels that turn one another whenever the lever is pulled across the bottom slot (Photo 6) to initiate the playing of the sheets / discs. The wooden box, in general, is in good condition, needs a good cleaning, with a few splits on the side, & one in the wood cover. Overall it does seem very sturdy. The inside SERIAL # is 109997.
