Antique Sterling Silver Fusee Wind Singing Bird Box Automaton (video)
Video will open in a new window. One of many fine singing bird boxes offered for sale – please look at my other listings too. Very rare fusee wind singing bird box crafted by one of the masters (Charles Bruguier). The movement is hand signed by Bruguier and also properly stamped; the number is 246 indicating a crafting date from the 1830s. The bird song is perfect, sweet and crisp and the bird animation is flawless – notice the turning head indicative of the early fusee wind examples. Fully serviced so this bird box works as it should. The original bird is extremely colorful boasting iridescent red, 2 blues, pink, orange and green hummingbird feathers. In summary, this is a superb antique singing bird box in stunning cosmetic and mechanical condition. I fully serviced (cleaned, adjusted, lubricated) the mechanical movement so this singing bird box operates perfectly. Buyers should be cautious when purchasing an antique singing bird box – always insist on seeing a photo of the mechanical movement for any singing bird box described as “antique”. This significantly impacts both current value and future value appreciation. The bird animates perfectly as follows: wings flap up/down, beak opens/closes, tail flutters up/down and the head rotates all the while singing to a beautiful oscillating bird song that is synchronized to the bird animation.
