This automaton wind-up mechanical doll dates to around 1880 and is functioning as intended. Head and arms move. With music box that plays Strauss’ “Blue Danube Waltz, ” when wound. Seated seamstress in her original lace dress and hat, red velvet covers the base, 12 in. She was made in France. The bisque head has piercing brown eyes and she has a S mark with two crossed arrows on the back of her head. The hands are also bisque. Her outfit is her original silk, and lace – in great condition (check photos). Every thing is original. In good working order, item appears a thumb is missing from one hand.
