Up for your consideration is this Gorgeous. Antique 1800’s Circa signed MERMOD FRERES Swiss music box. It has a 5 3/4 inch cylinder, with a 38 tooth comb. It has 2 missing teeth but plays beautifully as if it wasn’t missing any at all. It plays at least 5 to 6 different songs and maybe more because it’s hard to tell. Winding handle and spring are in excellent condition. It also has a glass covering over the beautiful mechanical works inside which can be closed while your enjoying the wonderful music but still protected. It’s measurements are 17 &1/4 inches in length, 6 in height, and 8 1/2 inches in depth. It’s made of wood with some thin strips of inlay and has about 3 inches of inlay missing on top and front. It is a mid to dark stained box and has an array of some scratches and blotching which is expected in a piece over 100 years old as shown in the photos. It also has a thin 1 piece of wood that is missing, which divides a place to hold the winding handle. It has 3 dates inside which are 1885, 1887, 1888 and has a D. P number of 33516. It has a repeat and change switch and also has a stop and play switch as well. The sound of the music is clear and vibrant. This piece also weighs approximately 14 pounds. Could use a little TLC.
