ABOUT THIS MUSIC BOX CLOCK. Crafted in Switzerland by Reuge, this piece is exceedingly rare and beautiful. The combination of clock AND music box pays tribute to the mechanical genius that was born in Switzerland so many years ago. The clock chimes on the hour and plays TWELVE different tunes. The chimes are clear, delicate, and absolutely lovely! They play in the same order, so with attention, you can come to know the time by ear. A button allows you to listen to the tunes and set the desired tune for the next passage. A separate slider allows you to turn off the chime. The beauty of the music is perfectly complemented by the craftsmanship evidenced in the wood box. The box is made of rosewood with a brass inlay and features a high gloss finish and rosewood fillets on each side. This is an heirloom-quality piece for anybody that loves clocks or music boxes and especially both! Lift the lid to reveal a rare, world-class, Reuge 12/60 movement. The movement is clean and shiny and it looks great. Both the clock and the movement operate via batteries, so it does not require winding. The sound quality is terrific thanks to the solid, well-constructed box. It switches between the songs effortlessly and automatically. Les cloches de Corneville II. The rosewood box is in very good condition. It is structurally perfect. The finish shows only light wear with fine scratches. The wood has been cleaned and conditioned. Please see the pictures for the beauty of this piece. The musical movement is in GREAT shape. It was cleaned, inspected and properly lubricated for years of use. The sound is rich and beautiful. There are NO resonance issues (buzzes/squawks) that can occur in vintage boxes. Please see the video to hear this box for yourself! The clock works well and keeps good time provided the battery is fresh. The battery that is required is a PC1A, an older style that was used in cameras. I have one extra that I will include.
