Type: Photo Album. Era: Victorian (circa 1870s-1890s). Material: Leather, gilt-edged pages, lithographed paper. Features: Working music box, original key, locking clasp, floral artwork. 8.5 x 11 inches. Origin: Likely American or English. Condition: See full description. This is a rare and beautiful Victorian-era musical photo album, featuring an intricately embossed leather cover, gilt-edged pages, and a working music box housed in the back. It includes its original brass clasp and key, which are often missing on similar examples. Inside are charming floral lithographs and frames for cabinet cards and carte de visite photos (CDVs). Some frames show wear and tape repairs, and several pages exhibit foxing, typical of its age. The music box winds and plays beautifully (tune unknown). This was a luxury item in the late 1800s-part keepsake, part novelty-and it’s still functional today. Functional music box built into the back (see photos). Beautiful floral lithograph interior pages. Gilt page edges. Original locking clasp with matching key. Holds cabinet cards / CDVs. Gorgeous shelf display piece or photography collector’s item. Exterior: Leather cover in very good condition with light scuffing; gold detailing still vibrant. Interior: Some photo windows torn or taped; foxing and age spots throughout. Music box: Winds and plays properly. Key & clasp: Fully intact and functional. Collectors of antique photo albums or Victorian ephemera. Lovers of mechanical novelties and curiosities. Decorative use in period interiors or retail displays.
