The singing bird mechanism is in beautiful working condition. This one has a beautiful gilt brass case with beautiful engravings like the beautiful hummingbirds on the lid. Karl Griesbaum is known for creating high-quality, handmade music boxes and whistlers that are highly sought after by collectors for their unique beauty, functionality and hand made quality. The mechanism has just been fully serviced including full disassembly cleaning, lubricating and adjusting to as new functionality. The main spring has also been removed from the barrel, cleaned and lubricated. The original leaking and worn out bellows have been recovered. The original bellows materials tend to dry out and get stiff over time. I use a modern highly flexible and airtight Bellows material that works really well. This bird box will give you many many years of great service. It works and sounds great and should provide many years of use and enjoyment. Beautiful vintage bird box.
