Ca 1880’s Mandolin/Organocleide? Cylinder Music Box 4 air Cylinder is 2 1/4 inch diameter and 13 inch long. Cylinder pins are straight and Cylinder is Bright Brass. The comb has 185 closely spaced teeth. No teeth or tips are broken or missing from comb some teeth may need to be dampered. Music Box plays all 4 tunes. The Mechanism is housed in a Beautiful Box with a Rosewood Lid and Floral inlay design. Box measures 23 inches long x 9 inches wide x 6 1/4 inches tall. I’m not sure of the maker of the box and their is no tune card. Yes, fine teeth on the comb and only four tunes indicates a good box. I’m not an expert, but for an overture box, I would expect a “fat” cylinder of 3 or more? Looking at the comb and cylinder pins, perhaps this is a good Mandolin Box or if the low notes repeat, even better an Organocleide? I notice that some of the low comb teeth are the same length, which might indicates an Organocleide box.
