Reuge KING’S MUSIC BOX, Brass Footed, Floral Marquetry, Birds Eye Maple, Mozart
Elegantly ornate Kings Reuge music boxes were designed with Royalty in mind. This one plays a rare song for a music box: Mozart’s “Turkish March” (2 parts). Listen to my video. The workmanship on this bird’s eye maple box is impeccable and it is in BEAUTIFUL condition. The edges of the hinged lid are bronze patina brass ormolu. Paw feet are formed by the brass acanthus leaves that decorate the corners of the bombe shape box. Inside, a removable pane of glass in a wood frame protects the mechanism. It winds up easily and plays beautifully. I noticed that the on/off button is not functioning, but I think it could probably be fixed rather simply. I left it alone. Condition: There’s light tarnish on the brass on/off button on the front, and there are two edge chips to the wood on the underside, as shown. The brass ormolu is intact and fits tightly to the box. Box measures at base: 5.5″ x 8.25″ and is 3 high WEIGHS 2 lbs.
