ANTIQUE 1880s Swiss cylinder music box, plays 8 tunes or airs, 37 note 5.5 comb. Box is 16.5″ wide — 8″ deep — 6.5 tall. Has a “REPEAT” and “CHANGE” option so you can listen to the same song over or continue with a new song after each play. Also has an ON / OFF lever. When the lever is ON, the songs will continue to play, one after another. But when the lever is in the off position, the music will stop at the end of the song playing. Crank on the outside of the box winds up the cylinder and can be removed by just pulling it straight out. It can be stored in the box. The song list has been lost so I couldn’t tell you the names of the songs that are played. This is an Estate find so I don’t have a lot of info about it. I was told that it had been in the family since it was new. It has been restored but I think it’s been a while. Pics were taken during restoration and I will include them with the music box. Wood box is in great condition with nice pin striping on the top and front. There is some wear from normal use. I do NOT have the key so don’t know if the lock works or not. I don’t know how long it’s been since it was serviced but I think it could use some adjustment. There is an obvious rubbing sound as the cylinder turns. I think it can be adjusted but I just don’t want to start messing with it without knowing what I’m doing but there are several screws that appear to me to be adjustments. All of the teeth on the comb are intact. Sound quality is very nice. Comb, cylinder and gears are all in very good condition. If you have any questions just ask.
